A New Blog For A New Plan

If Plan A doesn't work, the alphabet has 25 other letters.

And that's how I got the name for my new blog. Plan B. Because unfortunately (or maybe not, time will tell), Plan A didn't quite go as we'd imagined so we've had an unexpected change of direction.

Some readers may have followed my previous blog 'Paws Awhile' about Bernie and I and our three dogs living on the road in our fifth wheel.

We enjoyed 5 months of exploring the South Island but returned home because one of our dogs, Paddy (an Irish Water Spaniel) became seriously ill. He needed ongoing vet visits and being at home was an easier option for us to manage his treatment plan.

After being home for a couple of weeks we came to the realisation that we'd have to sell the truck and rig. It wasn't an easy decision because living on the road had been a long time dream. However, it's not the end of the world and once the fifth wheel sells we plan to buy a small bus to enjoy long weekends and holidays away.

So Plan B is now underway. The truck and fifth wheel are on Trademe and I'm looking forward to owning a 7-8metre bus that I'll be able to drive. Which means I need to get my class 2 licence.

Now I can't wait to be able to set off on more adventures, to watch those stunning sunrises and sunsets and discover scenes to capture with my camera.

  1. Hey Guys, It was nice being part of your dream. That door is shut but another will always open. Good luck with the next plan. Will follow with interest. Peskis.

    1. Thanks Dave & Sue, when we're out and about again we'll definitely make Peskies one of our stop overs. Hope you're both well (and Tui too).

  2. Sounds like a great plan. I've always like the look of those smaller buses with maybe a couple of e-bikes or even a small scooter on behind! LOL! Do you really need a Class 2?

    1. Hi Joy, e-bikes sound like a good idea, especially when Oakly is in the buddy rider (he's about 10kgs) and makes going up any incline noticeable! I think it will depend on the weight of the bus as to what class licence I'll need to drive it.
